The South African Sheepdog Championships will be held from September 27 to September 29, at Rhenosterfontein Farm, Witsand, from 8.30am daily.
This event attracts dog and handler from throughout South Africa, who will be competing under an international Judge from Scottland, to determine which dog will be the 2024 National Sheepdog Champion.
Each dog and handler will have a fresh group of sheep which they have to move around a pre- determined course, exhibiting their skill and teamwork in outwitting the wily sheep.
As the weekend progresses, the course increases in difficulty and the best dogs go through to the next round. All are welcome to enjoy the beauty of the Overberg in all its winter glory, and watch how these clever dogs showcase their amazing ability and do what they love doing best.
