The Stellenbosch University Chamber Choir (SUCC), conducted by Martin Berger, will share the stage with the Cologne Cathedral Girls’ Choir to present a programme of diverse choral music from the rich choral traditions of South Africa and Germany, on Friday August 23, at 8pm. SUCC was established in 2014 as an integral part of the Stellenbosch University Music Department. Besides annual performances at Woordfees and the Endler Concert Series, SUCC has been invited to attend festivals in Hong Kong (2017), Hungary (2018) and Germany (2018). Regarded as one of the most outstanding musical institutions of Germany’s cathedrals, the Cologne Cathedral Girls’ Choir, conducted by Oliver Sperling, visits South Africa for the first time since its inception in 1989, and their South African tour culminates with this performance in the Endler Hall. The innovative programme selected for this concert encompasses new South African choral compositions, African traditional songs and works from the international choral repertoire. Tickets cost R140, and R100 for students and pensioners, and are available through Computicket and at the door. or more information, contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
