Calling all bibliophiles… join local authors over a free glass of wine, and listen to discussions on new self-published book by well-known Bolander, Roger Chennells, and then stay on and socialise.
Roger is a human rights lawyer and conflict resolver by trade. In his book, All Rise – Tales of human rights & wrongs, he shares encounters with a host of quirky characters balanced on the scales of justice.
His captivating stories include rites of passage in Zululand, student pranks, forays into the law courts, legal work for the Pitjantjatjara in Australia, the San and Rastafarians, paranormal encounters, and service to clients ‘in low places’.
He has a fine ear for mimicry and the dramatic moment. These multifaceted tales are sprinkled with irony and paradox, conveyed through a sometimes off-beat sense of humour. And like all good storytellers, he leaves us wanting more.
The events take place tomorrow, Thursday October 12, at 5pm for 5.30pm, at Triggerfish Brewery, Strand, and on Tuesday October 17, at 4p for 4.30pm, at Bossa restaurant, on the R44 between Somerset West and Stellenbosch.
Speakers also include Dorian Haarhof, Lee Bozalek and Ilze Olckers. Books will be available for sale at R250.
To reserve, call Zindzi at 021Â 883 3189, or email Roger at allrisebook@gmail.com

* Bolander editor Carolyn Frost attended some of these talks during the recent Helderberg Fringe Fireside Chats, and highly recommends the experience of listening to this author (and the others), who will be regaling the attendees with captivating stories.
