The Endler Concert Series is proud to present young up and coming South African artists Ane van Staden on violin, Visser Liebenberg on clarinet, and Misha Melck on piano, on Sunday June 18, at 4.30pm, in the Endler Hall. They form the “Contrast Project” and will perform a concert of chamber music by composers Khachaturian, Milhaud, Bartok, and Stravinsky. These works for clarinet, violin and piano, composed in the 1930s for this unique combination of instrumental timbres, are flavoured with Hungarian and Romanian folk dance themes, hints of jazz and differing colours of sound. Expect rhythmic playfulness, polytonality, improvisational qualities, complex layers and contrasting moods. Tickets are R120 and R80 for students and pensioners. Available through Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
