Online talent competition at The Playhouse

Right: Is art your talent? Liam Walsh being painted as the Tinman, in the classic Wizard of Oz.

Adjudicated by the Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society (HHDS) and The Playhouse directors, the talent competition is a platform for locals to perform and enjoy their range of talents, from singing and rapping to dancing and gymnastics… anything goes.

“There is no limit to what entries would like to perform. We are looking forward to a great mix of talents from all ages!” explains The Playhouse chairperson, Darryl Spijkers.

Entry to the competition is free.

There are three age brackets: under-12, teens and over-20.

Send a 30- to 60-second video clip of yourself performing your talent, by Friday July 31, to, along with your age, and you will be adjudicated.

Finalists will be announced and be given a second chance by Tuesday August 11.

All finalists will win VIP tickets to the opening night of the The Sound of Music 2021, and the winners of each age group will be given the chance to perform at the Playhouse Annual Variety Show.

The winners also receive a performance photoshoot from The Playhouse’s resident photographer, Beatrice Glenister (BEAP).

“Get your family and friends to enter with you and let’s keep that passion and spirit for the arts, for performing and for our beautiful stage alive,” urges Mr Spijkers.
