Bid farewell to 2024 in a memorable way with the New Year’s Eve Sunset Hike at Muratie Wine Estate, on Tuesday December 31.
Enjoy a magical evening with family and friends as you hike to a scenic lookout point, toasting the final sunset of the year with a glass of Muratie’s Lady Alice MCC in hand.
The trail, starting from the Dirtopia Trail Centre at Muratie, is a 3.5km circular route leading to breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the surrounding Winelands.
The hike takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach the summit, so ensure you arrive by 7pm to complete the ascent before sunset.
Take a blanket to relax at the lookout while you wait for the sun to set and the moon to rise, all under the majestic Simonsberg Mountain. Pack your own picnic or enjoy a glass or bottle of Muratie’s premium wines, available for purchase at the Gillooly’s wine station at the summit.
Arrival time is from 6pm, no later than 7pm, to begin the hike. The cost is R165, and R80 for children under 10 (includes a glass of MCC for adults and juice for kids).
Wear sturdy hiking shoes and take a torch, warm clothing, and a picnic blanket. Snacks and cool drinks are available for purchase at the Trail Centre.
The experience concludes by 8.30pm, with the wine farm closing at 10pm. Please carry out all trash and note that smoking is prohibited on the mountain.
