Classical Sounds will hold its final concert for 2018: an afternoon filled with voice, piano and organ music from three performers.
Robert Brooks, originally from KwaZulu-Natal, completed his professional studies in Europe. Winner of many international singing competitions, he has since been active as a singer mainly in Europe, performing works ranging from German Lieder and opera to contemporary music.
Brooks has performed with orchestras all over Europe, singing under the baton of conductors such as Herbert von Karajan and Yehudi Menuhin in many theatres, including the Vienna State Opera and La Scala Milano.
Gisela de Villiers is a composer, pianist and cabaret artist. She has released several CDs of her own compositions for voice and piano and many of her choral compositions are published in South Africa and internationally.
She is currently working on her next CD, which includes all her previously unrecorded works.
John Oosthuizen, formerly an IT specialist at IBM, will be performing works on the organ. An organist and choirmaster associated with the Catholic Church, John is enrolled at the Conservatoire at Stellenbosch University for a degree in music, studying under Dr Mario Nell and has received many bursaries from the South African Church Organist Society.
The concert takes place on Sunday November 25, at 4pm, in the Dutch Reformed church building. Entry is free, but donations for the development of local musical talent, is welcome.
