The Endler Concert Series will hold its annual fundraising concert, Klassieke Kollage, on Saturday August 18, at 8pm, in the Endler Hall, featuring the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra (USSO) with retiring flute and conducting lecturer, Corvin Matei, as soloist in Mozart’s Andante for Flute and orchestra K 315. The internationally acclaimed piano duo, Nina Schumann and Luis Magalhaes, pictured right, also known as the TwoPianists, perform Mendelssohn’s Concerto for 2 Pianos and orchestra. Following the interval several students from the singing division perform some of the most famous arias and choruses from the operatic repertoire such as Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana from the opera Regina Caeli; arias such as Soave sia il vento and Papageno and Papagenas duet from Mozart’s comic operas, Cosi fan tutte and Die Zauberflöte ; also works by Strauss, Lehar, Puccini, Bizet and Verdi.
Tickets cost R140, and R100 for students and pensioners, at Computicket and at the door. All proceeds will go towards the running of the Endler Concert Series.
