The Helderberg Village Music Society will host flautist Liesel Stoltz and guitarist Michael Hoole, on the Talani Terrace on Sunday October 6, at 4pm.
After studying at Stellenbosch University, Liesel obtained diplomas with distinction in Italy and France. She has won numerous prizes in national competitions and internationally.
She has appeared as a soloist with most of our national philharmonic orchestras, Camerata Tinta Barocca and Simfonia.
In 2017 her CD Explorations – South African Flute music was proclaimed the winner in the category “Best Musical Composition” in the annual Humanities and Social Sciences Awards.
Liesel, who also has a DMus degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT), performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician.
She plays a 14k Yamaha flute and was named a Yamaha South Africa Artist in 2018.
She will be accompanied on guitar by Michael Hoole, who completed his BMus(Performers) with distinction, at UCT College of Music in 1988.
He obtained a diploma in the advanced course from The Royal College of Music in 1989, and completed a post graduate teaching diploma at UCT in 1990.
He has performed with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, and represented South Africa in several international competitions. Michael has recorded for the SABC and has toured South Africa, Namibia and Europe.
At present he performs predominantly with Palm Strings on guitar.
