Full moon picnic

■ The next full moon picnic takes place at the Taal Monument on Friday March 2, from 5pm to 10pm. A free guided tour that explains, among other things, the symbolism of the monument, is offered at 6.30pm. Guests can take their own picnic baskets or pre-order one – at R300 for two people, or R400 with a basket included – at the Volksmond Coffee Shop on 021 863 2800, which will be open for coffee and light refreshments. Dress warmly and take a torch. Tickets cost R30 for adults, R10 for South African students and R5 for children, with those under six entering free. Tickets can be bought through Computicket or at the gate, These evenings are held in aid of “Let’s Read!”, the museum’s reading project for children, and visitors are encouraged to donate a new or second-hand children’s book.
