Muratie Winery and Iluminar Productions are taking hands to present lunch time Jazz afternoons, every second Saturday, inside the Muratie Farm Kitchen, from noon to 4pm.
Enjoy a hearty lunch in front of the cozy with fire place, and combine that with some laid back jazz and good wine.
On Saturday August 4, take in the sultry vocals of Adelia Douw, with Blake Hellaby on piano and Sean Sanby on bass.
On Saturday August 18, jazz trio Moodswing takes to the stage, with their funky, bluesy sound of the classic blue-note era albums by artists such as Cannonball Adderley, Wes Montgomery and Horace Silver.
The trio features Michael Bester on guitar, Marc de Kock on saxophone and Kingsley Buitendag on keys.
On Saturday September 1, it’s time for Cape Jazz.
Ramon Alexander is the last and youngest of the Cape Jazz disciples – building bridges between the old and the young. Cape Jazz is influenced by Kaapse church music, langarm music and folk music, and a fusion of indigenous sounds mixed with Western and European music flavours.
Ramon is especially inspired by the father of Cape Jazz, Abdullah Ebrahim. Other influences are Robbie Jansen, Ibrahim Khalil Shihab, Basil Coetzee, Errol Dyers, Jack Momple, Spencer Mbadu, Stephen Erasmus, Tony Cedras and many more. On Saturday September 15, Semize is a jazz trio that combines the cool sounds of latin jazz and bossa nova with groovy renditions of well-known jazz standards, interpreted in a fresh way.
It features Michael Bester Music on guitar, Sean Sanby on double bass and Zeke Le Grange on saxophone.
