Her mom, Kathryn Eyre, was on hand to encourage horse and rider to achieve their best.Riding Fijnbosch Franjelica, dressage rider Jone Groenewald (who is a pupil at Paarl Girls’ High) look splendid on her eye-catching Nooitgedacht, one of our proudly South African breeds – and the teamwork paid off, as she won her class.Charles Muchineripi, with his soapstone sculptures, which are on sale at the various equestrian events. Charles is a vital member of the groundcrew, preparing for eventsLocal dressage judge Audrey de Vries, who took out time from a busy schedule of competing riders, to chat to Bolander editor Carolyn Frost under the cool shade of a nearby tree, during the two-day event at this historic riding club on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.Spectators can take time out for a snack at the clubhouse, where (delicious!) hamburgers, sandwiches, soft drinks and coffees are available, and (equally delicious!) chocolate-pancakes.Effortlessly taking the jump is Kondos Renaissance, ridden by Emma Erasmus (Courtrai Primary School).
The First Qualifier of Western Cape SANESA (South African National Equestrian Schools Association) Winelands took place in glorious weather on Saturday March 9 and Sunday March 10, at the Stellenbosch District Riding Club. The Second Qualifier will take place on Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14. also at Stellenbosch, and it’s a great outing for the family to go and support local youngsters from the Boland, Helderberg and Overberg.
