An Italian festival will take place at Idiom in Sir Lowry’s Pass, on Saturday March 2 and Sunday 3 March, from 10am till evening. There are activities for all ages, and Italian regional dishes, and a tasting room of more than 100 Italian and South African-made Italian varietal wines, and Italian music through the ages. Celebrity chef Gianni Mariano from Mastrantonio Group will be sharing some of his secrets of Italian cuisine during two entertaining show cooking sessions at 12.30pm each day. Children can take part in pizza- and pasta-making classes throughout the day, and Venetian mask-making, model cutouts of Leonardo da Vinci’s bicycle, mosaicing and some carnival games. Stands with interesting ceramics and Murano glass are new this year as are some cloting items and bespoke Italian sunglasses. On Sunday morning expect some revving as the Ducati and Alfa Romeo clubs will be adding some red colour and decibels to proceedings. The festival programme is available on www.idiom.co.za, and tickets are for sale at www.webtickets.co.za
