Adam Tas at the Groot Plaasproe

Entertainment is lined up for the whole family at Sandringham estate.

The Afrikaans singer Adam Tas is to perform at the Groot Plaasproe on Saturday October 14, at Sandringham outside Stellenbosch, from 4.30pm to 6.15pm, singing songs from his latest album, Patatas & Pyptabak, as well as from his Johnny Cash tribute album.

Nic Stevens, solo singer and one of Die Broers, will perform from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and Die Wildberries are on from noon to 2.30pm, and from 10am to 2.30pm, line dancers will entertain the crowd and show those who want to join in the fun how to line dance.

The programme also includes Boeresport from 11am to 1pm, an ice-cream eating competition at 1.15pm for all ages, from a big braai competition 11am to 1pm for solo or team braaiers.

Wine, cheese, sosaties, roosterkoek, steak, yogurt and ice cream will be available for tasting and sale at stalls, and boergoat meat craft, braai, jaffles, skaapstertjies, wildspotjie, afvalpotjie, gin, biltong and droëwors, freshly baked farm bread, milktart, skaapkop, pap with smoor, milkshake will also be on offer.

Children can take part in the Townies fun show from 11am to noon, leading a milk goat around the arena, ride ponies, visit a touch farm and meet miniature horses and donkeys.

There will be a working sheep dog demonstration from noon to 1pm, sheep shearing every hour from 10am to 1pm, and dog jumping and flyball competitions from 1.15pm to 6pm.

The Cape Rabbit Club’s Championship Spring Show, which includes a pet bunny show, takes place at 10.30am.

Groot Plaasproe forms part of Livestock, a world-class annual showcase of the South African livestock and dairy industry,
taking place from Thursday
October 12, to Saturday October 14.

Tickets are available from Computicket and the gate at R80 on Saturday, R60 on Thursday and Friday, R50 for pensioners and scholars 14 to 18 years of age, and free for children 13 years and under.
