■ A Taste of Belgium, the authentic Belgian market and beer and food festival will be held at Vergenoegd Wine Estate outside Stellenbosch, on Saturday November 18, from 9am to 4pm. The festival is arranged by the Belgian Chamber of Commerce of Cape Town and the Belgian Consulate, and the food, beer, music and the goods on sale at the market will all hail from the land of chocolate and waffles. There will also be a typical Belgian flea market with some genuine Belgian items. Their national dish is moules-frites, pictured, mussels and Belgian fries, which you’ll be able to taste on the day. There will be also waffles, Belgian chocolates, crepes, steak tartare, croquettes, frites, Flemish carbonades, Belgian beer and a selection of local wines produced by Belgians. Vergenoegd Wine Estate is famous to be the home of 1 000 runner ducks, and at 10am, 12.30pm and 3.30pm, you’ll be able to enjoy their parade. Entry is free.
