■ Samarie Smith, pictured, talking about her art at her exhibition, My love affair with wine, at Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, where she was recently appointed brand manager. Samarie, who lives in Somerset West, studied fine arts and journalism at university, and her wanderings across the globe sparked her interest in wine, and thus commenced her love affair with the spirit of Bacchus. This body of Samarie’s work brings to life the essence of wine – the colours, aromas, flavours, textures and moods that we encounter whenever we raise a glass of the beverage of which Martin Luther said: “Beer is made by men, wine by God.” The exhibition closes on Saturday June 30.
